We arrived in Marina del Rey on January 28. Originally, we had planned to stay there for three days, and then set sail for Catalina Island. However, a series of three storms rolled in off the Pacific and delayed our departure for a week.
We loved our stay at the Del Rey Yacht Club. The people were helpful and kind, and the facilities were first rate. The harbor was peaceful, and we enjoyed numerous sunsets. One of the benefits of inclement weather is that the storm clouds produce beautiful sunrises and sunsets.
We also enjoyed the simple beauty of the harbor between the storms.
One of the highlights for us was seeing an Osprey land on the yacht club flag pole.
While we were in Los Angeles, we had a great time connecting with friends and family. We had a wonderful Mexican dinner with Nina’s friend Ann, Nina had lunch with her colleague, Ron, and our friend Nancy came to the boat for a visit. We also enjoyed seeing some of Robert’s family. It was wonderful to see Lynn, Mike, Rush, Karen, Christian, and Corey. Lynn lent us a car for the week, which was a huge gift. This enabled us to run errands and stock up on provisions. In addition, Nina’s niece, Sophie, visited us and spent the night! She was our first overnight guest!
